A bottle of clear liquid with some costs printed on a label
$0.04 per ml
20ml = $0.80
150ml = $6
If the label is correct, it consists of water, an undiscoverable ingredient, and some preservative.
I asked the lab technician about it, and while X believes the mix is safe, it is stored in the locked cabinet until further testing can prove it. X asks me to sign a sheet of paper and after reading, I go ahead and sign.
"Ok, I'll get the tube and test strips out, you try to open the seal."
I try as I might, but the seal hardly opens.
"I'll help you", X says as he slices the seal with the cabinet key.
"You take the 2 strips and hold them in the tube", X instructs, as the strips go in, X pours.
We watched the red hand on the clock complete half a lap and looked back at the strips. greenish blue, and deep purple.
"Well, this is interesting".
I ask why.
"Turns out, our mix is counterfeit. Get the plastic bags"
I get them and X puts the bottle, tube, liquid and strips in the bag, and ask X why the precaution.
"If the mixture was left out, in 10 minutes me and the class will be sleeping. We'll probably survive, the supervisor will enter and trigger the fan, but falling is not fun"
(Me) What's next?
(X) The supervisor will clean up the tube and laminate the test strips as evidence.
(Me) Nods
(X) We'll be suing the company within the hour, want to join the suit?
(Me) Umm
(X) Just kidding.
I am a bit confused, but I have the feeling the lab tech wasn't joking about the lawsuit. Why settle for a refund when the company will have to pay for their negligence?
